The recent arrival of billions of cicadas throughout the eastern United States has prompted a photographer in Virginia to place the 17-year periodic bugs in novel and unexpected human settings for fun.
Oxana Ware admits she may be called a "crazy cicada lady." How else to explain her penchant for posing cicadas in miniature scenes as weightlifting Olympians or as Cupid with an arrow or as musicians in the latest boy band?

Ware, a professional portrait photographer and a mother of three children, fabricates doll house-sized settings to showcase the cicadas.
