The US has begun strikes against targets in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for an attack on an American military base in Jordan.

The strikes are targeting Iranian proxy groups in the region.

President Biden announced this week the US would launch a multi-tiered response to the attack on a US army base by an Iranian proxy group.

Israel is also reported to have joined the operation.
