Afghan President Ashraf Ghani removes Afghan Army Chief | نیا آرمی چیف کون؟

General Wali Mohammad Ahmadzai on Wednesday has been removed as Afghanistan Army Chief following the defeat of the military by Taliban.

The action came as Taliban seized two more Afghan cities including one just 200 kilometres (125 miles) from Kabul -- as tens of thousands of people fled their homes in the north for the relative safety of the capital and other centres.

But despite the bloodshed, and with eight provincial capitals now toppled in the insurgents sweeping advance, US President Joe Biden gave no hint of delaying his deadline to withdraw all American troops by August 31, instead urging Afghan leaders to "come together" and "fight for themselves."

On the other hand, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani flew to the besieged northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif to rally his beleaguered forces, with Taliban fighters having now taken more than a quarter of the country’s provincial capitals in less than a week.

افغانستان میں جنگ کا بازار گرم ہے، افغان فورسز اور طالبان کئی علاقوں میں آمنے سامنے ہیں۔ خبر ایجنسی کے مطابق طالبان نے 9ویں صوبائی مرکز فیض آباد پر بھی قبضہ کر لیا۔ قندوز سے کابل آنے والی شاہراہ پر بھی کنٹرول حاصل کر لیا۔ مزار شریف کی طرف بھی پیش قدمی جاری ہے، نواحی علاقوں میں شدید لڑائی جاری ہے۔

افغان میڈیا کے مطابق قندھار شہر کے کچھ حصوں پر بھی طالبان قابض ہو چکے ہیں، صوبے قندھار کے 17 اضلاع سے 30 ہزار خاندان بے گھر ہو چکے ہیں۔ پناہ گزین خیموں اور کھلی جگہوں پر رہنے پر مجبور ہیں۔

صدر اشرف غنی شمالی علاقوں کی صورت حال کا جائزہ لینے کے لیے خود مزار شریف پہنچ گئے، انہوں نے افغان فوج کی مختلف محاذوں سے پسپائی کے سبب آرمی چیف ولی احمد زئی کو عہدے سے ہٹایا ہے۔
