BREAKING: Driver of car near US Capitol shot dead by police - US media

Capitol police in Washington DC have shot dead a man driving a car near the Capitol building, which struck two police officers.

Sky correspondent Alex Rossi, who is in Washington DC, said that he understands the suspect drove into police before jumping out of the vehicle and held a knife.

Both police officers have were taken to hospital for treatment, where one of them died.
