Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro is about to face his first political test since coming to power two years ago, as people vote in municipal elections later on Sunday.
Bolsonaro has been criticised for his response to the coronavirus pandemic which has killed more than 165,000 people in Brazil.
Polls show that his candidates are expected to do badly.
For the first time in the history of Brazil, more than half of the candidates are Black, more than 30 percent are women and three times more transsexuals are running for office compared with three years ago.
Al Jazeera’s Monica Yanakiew reports from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
