Cases of dengue fever continue to rise in eastern Bolivia to the point that health centres have exceeded their capacity to care for the sick. Authorities have even been forced to deploy medical tents.

With 7,212 cases out of a total of 9,613 cases documented to date by the Ministry of Health, Santa Cruz, the region with the most people and wealth in the nation, is the most impacted.

Twenty-nine individuals have already died due to the dengue epidemic, including children. In Plan 3000, one of the most populous and impoverished regions in the eastern capital, a mobile hospital has been established in response.

President Luis Arce announced a plan against dengue that includes an increase in medical personnel and equipment.
