The US Justice Department is reportedly pushing the aeroplane manufacturer Boeing to plead guilty to criminal fraud in connection with two deadly plane crashes. The accidents involved its 737 Max jetliners and killed 346 people in 2018 and 2019. It is thought the giant aerospace company will agree as part of a plea deal to an independent monitor overseeing its compliance with anti-fraud laws. Boeing and the Justice Department have not yet commented on the claims.
