A U.S. delegation led by Secretary of State Antony Blinken met Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Wednesday to discuss migration along their joint border.

Before the meeting, Obrador said on Wednesday the U.S. Congress should focus on investing in people instead of building walls.

President Joe Biden's administration is seeking help from Lopez Obrador's government to stem migration flows and cope with record numbers of people trying to reach the U.S. border, a key issue ahead of the U.S. presidential election in November.

“We don't need to go back to our country if we have nothing there, if we had we wouldn't be migrating and we wouldn't be invading a part that doesn't belong to us but we want help, we want an education for our children, that's all we ask for as human beings," said Venezuelan migrant Noemi Zendejas.
