US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says he spoke to Israel about “maximizing humanitarian protection” and relieving the suffering of Gazans.

Mr Blinken added that he also discussed Hamas's ceasefire counterproposals with the Israeli government during his visit to Jerusalem.

The US diplomat says while there are "some clear non-starters, it creates space for an agreement to be reached".
