Two recent bear-related encounters in British Columbia served as a good reminder not to leave your car doors unlocked or garage open — especially if you live close to bear habitat.
In Belcarra, B.C., police were called to rescue a large black bear locked in a small hot car. Coquitlam RCMP say the Toyota Yaris's interior was "destroyed" from the bear trying to escape, and will likely be a write-off.
Meanwhile in North Vancouver, another bear made a meal from an unsupervised freezer. The homeowner returned to see the mess after neighbours informed them they had an uninvited guest.
Global's Troy Charles reports.
