U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday welcomed the 2020-21 Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning team to the White House to celebrate not only their championship last season, but also their Cup victory in 2019-20.
The president was presented a “Biden” Lightning jersey with the No. 46 on the back as captain Steven Stamkos hoisted the Stanley Cup beside him.
“It’s a huge honour to come here to the White House,” Lightning defenceman and alternate captain Ryan McDonagh said to the gathered crowd at the White House Garden.
