Biden touts new mask guidance for Americans "another great reason to go get vaccinated" | FULL

U.S. President Joe Biden touted new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on mask wearing, allowing for people to attend small gatherings or dine with people from multiple households outdoors without a mask, as "another great reason to go get vaccinated."

Biden also spoke about the strides made since being inaugurated, pointing out that 67 per cent of seniors - who were highly impacted when the COVID-19 pandemic hit - have been fully vaccinated with more than 80 per cent having received at least one shot.

The new mask guidance released just a short time before Biden's remarks also allows people to walk, run, bike or hike outdoors alone or with members of their household without a mask. They can also enjoy an outdoor concert or other event, but the CDC recommends they still wear a mask due to the difficulty to properly distance.

The president also spoke briefly about the country's response to India in terms of COVID-19, saying he had spoken with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they were working on getting the country various medications that can help with COVID-19 illness, parts for the machinery to produce the vaccine, and about when the U.S. could send vaccines. He could not yet say how many or when they would send vaccines, but it was part of their plan.
