President Joe Biden's administration is sending an additional 1,500 soldiers to the border with Mexico to deal with increasing numbers of migrants and refugees trying to enter the United States.
The deployment was ordered ahead of next week's relaxation of pandemic-era restrictions, which allowed border officials to turn away tens of thousands of people trying to enter the country.
