For decades, space was the preserve of governments and accessible only by taxpayer-funded rockets. Its exploration was politicised by cold-war rivalries. But in the last month, billionaires have accelerated our passion for the heavens.

Melissa Thorpe, head of Spaceport Cornwall, tells us why data, and not tourism, will be the big money-spinners.
