China is warning the U.S. should stop distorting the "one-China" principle, ahead of the planned G20 summit in which U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to meet.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian added that the U.S. needed to stop weaponizing trade issues and take action to defend the rules of the market economy, and that Beijing would oppose coercing other countries to take sides.
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke in Washington about the planned meeting, saying the U.S. would brief Taiwan on the results of the meeting with the aim to make the island feel "secure and comfortable" about their support.
