Chinese athletes who grew up in the United States are under intense scrutiny at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
Eileen Gu and Zhu Yi were born and raised in the US before deciding to represent China.
Their contrasting fortunes at the games - one leaping for gold and the other stumbling through team competitions - highlight the fine line between praise and abuse for China’s naturalised athletes.
Mounting tensions between Washington and Beijing are also adding to the pressure to win a medal.
