US authorities marked Monday's 'Freedom-of-the-Press Day' mainly by focusing on any other country's level of press freedoms but its own. In the past year alone, the US has seen more than 400 journalists assaulted, 139 arrests and detentions, and over 100 cases of reporters' equipment getting damaged.
