A warning about hiring a renovation contractor — make sure you do your homework. A B.C. woman says she lost tens of thousands of dollars in a home renovation-turned-disaster.

Gillian Harris says it was a dream to own her own place. She hired a contractor through word of mouth to do a full renovation on her mobile home. Instead, she says she's been left with major deficiencies with no end in sight.
