Hank Aaron, one of baseball's most celebrated players, has died at age 86.

As a Black man, Aaron was known for defying racism while defying the odds.

He was the target of extensive hate mail as he closed in on Babe Ruth's cherished home run record of 714, sparked by the fact Ruth was white and Aaron was Black. He finished his career with 755.

Aaron was elected to the Hall of Fame on his first ballot in 1982. Mike Drolet looks back on his story.
