At a recent UN Security Council meeting, several countries have called for the Lachin Corridor to be reopened – and urged Armenia and Azerbaijan to normalize their relations after decades of armed conflict.
The Lachin Corridor is Armenia's only connection to enclave Nagorno-Karabakh, and carries essential aid to the region. The Corridor has been blocked by Azerbaijan for eight months now. Observers are calling the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh a humanitarian catastrophe. Reportedly 120,000 people are in urgent need of food, medicine and other supplies.
