One focus of the fighting is the eastern town of Avdiivka, where Russia is said to be suffering heavy losses as it tries to wrest control from Ukraine.
Kyiv has been reporting heavy fighting there in the past two weeks. It says that, despite heavy losses, Russia is continuing with its attempts to capture the town.
