Accused of being a criminal, a bully and a liar, one of Australia’s most highly decorated soldiers has lost a landmark defamation case against three newspapers.
Former elite soldier Ben Roberts-Smith accused the media outlets of falsely portraying him as a war criminal during his deployment in Afghanistan.
But a judge dismissed the case, saying the newspapers had successfully proven that their key allegations were true.
Al Jazeera’s Sarah Clarke reports from Sydney, Australia.
