Atlantic Declaration: US, UK join forces on critical mineral supply chains, semiconductors, and AI

Following their bilateral meeting, U.S. President Joe Biden and U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak held a joint press conference in Washington, D.C., on Thursday at the White House.

Biden and Sunak on Thursday agreed to an “Atlantic Declaration” intended to strengthen economic ties between the two countries in the face of mounting global challenges.

The proposed agreement, more a series of smaller deals, includes commitments on easing trade barriers, closer defence industry ties, and a data protection deal.

“The global economy is undergoing the greatest transformation that has occurred since the industrial revolution," Biden said.

The declaration "responds to particular challenges and opportunities we face right now," PM Sunak added.
