At least 14 people are dead in Indonesia’s South Sulawesi province after a wave of floods and landslides battered the region.

The floods, triggered by torrential rains, have impacted more than 2,000 families and damaged nearly 1,900 homes, according to local officials.

Footage shared by Basarnas on Friday — Indonesia’s national search and rescue agency — showcased the severity of the flooding as search and rescue teams evacuated survivors in dinghies.

Aside from the bodies recovered, 18 survivors from the Wajo area have been rescued, as well as 17 in Sidrap and 60 in Luwu, said Mexianus Bekabel, the head of the Makassar search and rescue office on Friday.
