This May marks the 20th anniversary of Asian Heritage Month in Canada, which is a time to recognize the contributions of Asian Canadians to the growth of the country.
But instead of celebrating, many are feeling upset and frustrated by the significant rise in anti-Asian racism over the last few years.
A Chinese Canadian National Council and Project 1907 report has found, last year we saw a 47 per cent increase in virtual reporting of racism, 51 per cent from Asian communities and 17 per cent from Southeast Asians, which is a 121 per cent increase from the year prior.
