The Kremlin said on Friday that an arrest warrant for alleged war crimes in Ukraine issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Russian President Vladimir Putin was "outrageous and unacceptable," declaring it null and void.

The ICC issued the warrant for Putin's arrest on suspicion of unlawful deportation of children and unlawful transfer of people from the territory of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.

While many residents in Moscow were shocked, those in Kyiv welcomed the news.

"They (Russians) caused so much pain, they killed so many people and destroyed so much....To start war in the 21st century, one has to be crazy," Nina, a school teacher said.
