Britain remembered its war dead with two minutes of silence and ceremonies on Armistice Day.

People gathered nearby at the Cenotaph war memorial where ceremonial guards paid their respects.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, paid her respects in the 93rd Field of Remembrance, a memorial garden which is opened annually by UK charity the Poppy Factory near central London's Westminster Abbey since November 1928.

In France, President Macron welcomed U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris for Armistice Day ceremony.

He paid tribute to Hubert Germain, the last surviving member of an order honouring heroes of France's liberation during World War Two who died in October.

Armistice Day marks the end of World War One on Nov. 11, 1918.
