The semi-finals of the FIFA Arab Cup are just days away in Doha, Qatar.
The tournament is being used as a test for organisers before next year's World Cup, the first time it will be played in the Middle East and only the third time the tournament will be held outside of Europe or the Americas.
When the tournament was held in Africa and Asia, teams from the local region gave strong showings.
Arab countries will be hoping a similar "home field" advantage will produce a breakout tournament for teams from the Middle East.
Al Jazeera’s Andy Richardson reports from Doha.
