Ukraine’s withdrawal from the embattled town of Adiivka could just be the beginning of a series of setbacks if US lawmakers fail to confirm more military aid to Kyiv -- even to the point of the capital falling by the end of 2024. That’s the warning from US-based geopolitical analyst Dmitri Alperovitch. Speaking to DW's Richard Walker at the Munich Security Conference, he said Russia and the West are locked in a long-term contest of military production and political wills. He said that Russia’s economic outlook is "incredibly weak" and that the West can outlast it "if we have the will to do so."
