Health experts are warning of the threat of bird flu after it emerged that the virus that killed a girl in Cambodia had mutations that made it better adapted to attack human cells.

Dr Erik Karlsson, who led the team that decoded the genetic sequence of the girl's virus, said it differed from samples taken from birds.
