Russia's Defence Ministry says it has prevented an attempted cross-border incursion from Ukraine into the Russian region of Belgorod - and reported renewed shelling of the area from Ukraine.

The Kremlin says Soviet-designed rockets were used in the attacks. The regional governor says at least eight people were injured during what he called 'uninterrupted shelling' of the town of Shebekino. Two more were hurt when a drone crashed. Residents have been moved to temporary shelters.

For more on this we talk to DW's Russia analyst Konstantin Eggert who joins us from Vilnius. Since there has been no independent verification of this supposed attack and no claim of responsibility, we ask him: Are you convinced that it happened?
