Afghanistan's acting Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has appeared in a video to deny rumours of his death.
Speculation had been swirling that Baradar was caught up in a violent confrontation between rival Taliban factions after the formation of the interim government.
Despite Baradar's appearance and Taliban denials, many Afghans still worry that a prolonged leadership crisis could create more poverty and uncertainty.
