Advocates say MAiD expansion delay “discriminates against the mentally ill”

The federal government is being urged to put an indefinite pause on plans to expand eligibility for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).

This would have allowed it for people whose sole medical condition is mental illness, and was scheduled to go into effect on March 17, after MAiD had already been pushed back.

Eric Sorensen explains why a parliamentary committee doesn't believe Canada should expand the process and why mental health advocates are frustrated with the decision.
