आफताब और श्रद्धा की मुलाकात डेटिंग एप पर हुई थी. आफताब के बाइक चलाने के शौक और घूमने की हॉबी ने श्रद्धा को उसकी ओर आकर्षित किया था. दोनों की एक समानता यह थी कि वे अपनी- अपनी लाइफ में दिशाहीन थे. श्रद्धा परिवार के साथ वसई के संस्कृति अपार्टमेंट में रहती थी. वो खुले विचारों की थी. उसके पिता को यह पसंद नहीं था. इस कारण उसके अपने पिता से रिश्ते सही नहीं थे. यहां तक कि श्रद्धा ने कॉलेज के दौरान अपने दोस्तों को कहा था कि उसके पिता नहीं हैं और वो परिवार में एक ही कमाने वाली है.
श्रद्धा ने यह भी बताया था कि परिवार की जिम्मेदारी उस पर है, इसलिए वो पढ़ाई के साथ जॉब भी करती है. वो कॉल सेंटर से लेकर बड़े रिटेल सुपर मार्केट तक में काम कर चुकी थी. साल 2019 में परिवार के विरोध के बाद भी श्रद्धा ने लिव-इन रिलेशनशिप में रहना शुरू कर दिया, लेकिन जनवरी 2020 में मां के निधन पर कुछ दिनों के लिए घर वापस आई थी. वो अपने भाई और पिता के संपर्क में नहीं थी.
