York Regional Police say they have laid a first-degree murder charge after an infant was found dead inside a Vaughan home on Thursday night.

Police said they were called to a home in the Wade Gate area, near Dufferin Street and Centre Street, at around 6:10 p.m. for reports of an injured person.

Investigators said life-saving measures were performed on an “unresponsive infant” when crews arrived. The infant was taken to hospital where the baby was pronounced dead.

“We’re not releasing further details of the infant or the person at this time as you can understand it’s a very sensitive investigation,” Const. Lisa Moskaluk told Global News.
