“The woman is gone”: Families mourn as Donetsk market shelling kills at least 25

On Sunday, a explosion struck a crowded market in Donetsk, a Ukrainian city under Russian control, leaving at least 25 people dead, according to the Russian-appointed head of the Donetsk region.

Meanwhile, families grieved for their lost loved ones, while bodies lay on the blood-soaked snow near the city's market.

“Most likely, she passed because half the body was lying under the table; I pulled it out myself. I arrived — still warm, but that's all. The woman is gone," said the husband of a woman killed in the shelling.

Russian officials assert the attack was conducted by the Ukrainian military. The Ukrainian government has not yet made a statement regarding the claims while Russia's foreign ministry has denounced the strike.
