Climate activists, anti-World Economic Forum (WEF) demonstrators and millionaires calling for higher taxes on the rich joined forces at a demonstration in Davos on Sunday, ahead of the opening of the WEF in Switzerland.

Dozens of protesters raised placards and chanted slogans as they arrived by train in the ski resort, where hundreds of political leaders and major economic figures are set to meet starting Monday.

"I’ve come here to join the hike and the protest here because we are in favour of [a] wealth tax. We really want to reduce this level of wealth inequality in the world that's so corrosive to society,” Patriotic Millionaires U.K. member Phil White said, holding a sign saying “Tax the Rich.”

Some protesters also gathered in front of the city’s BlackRock offices to call for the global investment giant to cancel the debt of poorer countries in order for them to tackle climate change more efficiently. Later in the week, a group of over 200 millionaires from 13 countries is also expected to release a letter calling on Davos attendees to tackle extreme wealth and embrace significant tax increases on the wealthy.
