A survivor of the Israeli Nova music festival which was targeted by Hamas militants has spoken out after the attack that resulted in the deaths of hundreds on Oct. 7.

“I felt on edge, I felt anxious, I felt really tense,” Shye Klein Weinsten, a Toronto-born photographer, told Global’s Caryn Lieberman in an exclusive interview on Thursday.

When Weinstein initially heard Hamas gunfire, he said he drove his cousins and friends out of the festival immediately, and thanks to a split-second decision, they made it out of the chaos alive.

“I started filming because what else am I going to do? We didn’t have cell reception,” Weinstein added.

Weinsten said as he and his group left, they saw two men in black balaclavas by a car, standing near dead bodies.
