Beachgoers on Florida's Gulf Coast are being reminded that they can often find themselves in the same waters as ocean predators, after three people were injured in two shark attacks just a few kilometres apart on the same day.

Experts say shark attacks are statistically rare and are trying to figure out exactly what happened and why. .
