US President Joe Biden has backed a plan at the World Trade Organization that would lift intellectual property rights for COVID-19 vaccines.
Biden has come under increasing pressure to fulfil a campaign promise to boost international efforts to produce vaccines in poorer countries.
But vaccine manufacturers say the waiving of patents will not solve the global pandemic.
