Helmet Wearing New Rule: टू व्हीलर्स या दोपहिया गाड़ी चलाने के लिए हेलमेट पहनना ज़रूरी है। पूरे देश में ये क़ानून है। पुरुष हो या महिला... गाड़ी चलाने वालों और पीछे बैठने वालों के लिए हेलमेट पहनना अनिवार्य है और बिना हेलमेट लगाए टू व्हीलर चलाने या पीछे बैठने पर जुर्माने का प्रावधान है। लेकिन सिख समुदाय के लोगों को धर्म के आधार पर हेलमेट पहनने से छूट मिली हुई है। क्योंकि सिख समुदाय के लोग पगड़ी बांधते हैं और पगड़ी के साथ हेलमेट लगाना नामुमकिन है। आमतौर पर सिख समुदाय के पुरुष ही पगड़ी पहनते हैं। हालांकि सिख महिलाएं भी पगड़ी पहनती हैं लेकिन उनकी संख्या कम है। सिख समुदाय के पुरुषों को हेलमेट पहनने से मिली छूट सिख महिलाओं पर लागू होती है या नहीं, इसको लेकर मामला पंजाब और हरियाणा हाई कोर्ट में चल रहा है।

Be it a man or a woman, it is mandatory for drivers and pillion riders to wear helmets and there is a provision of fine for driving a two-wheeler or sitting pillion without a helmet. But people of the Sikh community are exempted from wearing helmets on the basis of religion. Because people of Sikh community wear turban and it is impossible to wear helmet with turban. Generally only men of Sikh community wear turban. Although Sikh women also wear turban but their number is less. A case is going on in the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding whether the exemption given to Sikh community men from wearing helmets applies to Sikh women or not.
