The logging industry in Romania is known for large scale corruption and violence in which international companies have played their role in the past.

Over the last couple of years IKEA has become the largest private forest owner in Romania, a country that is home to some of Europe’s last ancient woodlands which are disappearing at an alarming rate.

In contrast to the sustainble image the Swedish furniture company tries to convey, IKEA is now facing accusations of taking part in exploiting Romania’s natural heritage. is known for large scale corruption and violence in which international companies have played their role in the past.
