Chattanooga Police say a woman was stabbed to death at a home in South Chattanooga early Friday morning.

According to a release from the Chattanooga Police Department, 33-year-old Angel Evans was stabbed several times near 4000 Hooker road. She was pronounced dead once police arrived.

Police also found a man, 24-year-old Gerald Nelson, also stabbed at the scene. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the release, police are looking for witnesses to the crime. They also plan to interview Nelson once he's able to speak with authorities.

UPDATE: Outside a home off Hooker Road, neighbors have placed flowers and candles just below the crime scene tape. They're there to remember Angel Evans, or Raven, as neighbors called her. She's the woman police found stabbed to death early Friday.

Delphine Jones lives on the street and tells us what police told her. "He said, 'she was fighting for her life.' He said, 'she gave him a fight,'" Jones said.

Jones is talking about Gerald Nelson. He's the other man police found suffering from stab wounds.

Chief Fred Fletcher tells us who he thinks is responsible for all of this.

"The man we found outside the home, Gerald Nelson, is the primary suspect in the death of the deceased woman inside the home," Fletcher added.

Police say Nelson and Evans knew each other. Chief Fletcher tells us Nelson was actually the one who called 911.

According to police, this is the 4th deadly stabbing in Chattanooga this year.

"Every victim is important regardless of their background, regardless of their actions, regardless of their criminal history. Every person in this community has value and we investigate them all as the unique crimes for the unique individuals that they are," Fletcher said.

Although police wouldn't confirm who lived in the home, Jones tells us Angel Evans lived here for more than 10 years.

We asked Jones if she felt safe living on Hooker Road. "It is. I mean- it's safe. I mean, people just can't believe this happened to her," Jones added.
