A winter storm has blanketed parts of the eastern U.S., with several inches of snow coating the ground in several states including North Carolina, Alabama, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

The storm has compounded travel delays that have been seen over the holidays, with hundreds of flights grounded or delayed on Monday and just under 300 already cancelled for Tuesday, leaving thousands of air travellers frustrated.

As Sean Previl reports, people also faced difficult travel on the ground with even President Joe Biden facing his own issues getting back to the White House after his return from Delaware.
