Speaking at an economic forum in Vladivostok, President Vladimir Putin blasted Europe's calls for a price cap on Russian gas as "dumb," and said Russia would walk away from its supply contracts if the West imposed price caps on Russia's exports.

"What comes around goes around, like a boomerang," he told the forum. "We won't supply gas, oil, coal, heating oil - nothing!"

He also turned to a Russian fairytale to describe his attitude towards the consequences of the proposed price cap for those who imposed it. “Freeze, freeze, the wolf's tail!”, he said referring to the fairytale where a fox tricked a wolf into fishing on a frozen lake with his tail instead of a fishing rod.

Putin also blamed Germany and Western sanctions for the Nord Stream 1 shutdown, saying Gazprom could resume flows if a key turbine was returned to Russia.
