The areas around the Ghats are flooded due to the rise in the Ganges in Varanasi. Due to water coming at Manikarnika and Harishchandra Ghat situated on the banks of the Ganges, there is a problem in performing the last rites. It is a matter of relief that the water level of Ganga has started decreasing at the speed of 1 cm per hour. It is expected that in the coming days people can get some relief from the floods.
