WATCH: Why this Roberta Flack song asks crucial 2020 questions

Poet Kevin Young said he’d been making quarantine playlists throughout the pandemic, and one song he’s been listening to lately is Roberta Flack’s “Compared to What.”

The 1969 jangly tune is not necessarily an account of the end of days, Young said, but of the troubled ‘60s and 70s.

Flack “is really great at nailing the mood,” asking all sorts of questions, he added.
