The omicron variant sweeping the United States has created fresh confusion and frustration over COVID testing, masking and vaccine guidance. The latest, massive surge in new cases has prompted some public health experts to reconsider which masks are best to use, how often and how people should test, and has left parents wondering whether vaccines will become available for the youngest children. To address the confusion and latest guidance, PBS NewsHour’s Nicole Ellis on Jan. 13 spoke with Dr. Payal Patel, an infectious disease physician at the University of Michigan.
