President Donald Trump said Monday, July 1, that the next round of China trade talks had "essentially already begun," and that it had begun before he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The president emphasized that any deal would need to benefit the United States more than it would China, and claimed that tariffs are not hurting U.S. consumers. Trump was in the Oval Office to sign an executive action a $4.6 billion aid package to help the federal government meet the need of Central American immigrants crossing at the U.S.-Mexico border.
