Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., questioned Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as the Senate Judiciary Committee continued its Supreme Court confirmation hearings March 23. He asked about copyright law and intellectual property, and also suggested that the continued questions other senators had with her sentences on child pornography cases are issues that should be taken up by Congress.
Tillis finished by praising her performance throughout the hearings.
“You presented yourself well and there was a lot of pressure, and that demonstrates a certain temperament and poise,” he said. “You should be proud of that.”
Wednesday was senators’ final day to question Jackson, who was nominated by President Joe Biden in February to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. If confirmed, she will be the first Black woman on the high court. On the final day of the hearings March 24, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear from friends and colleagues of Jackson about her temperament and approach to the law.
